New footage from the scene of the attack in Salait provides a glimpse into the difficult moments of the ongoing shooting attack in Sharon.
The terrorist arrived at the entrance to the settlement of Salait and fired at the guard post.
The local police chief, who was on the scene, responded quickly, returned fire at the terrorist and moved him away from the gate, thus preventing a serious attack.
The attack began at the gas station at the entrance to Kochav Yair - then the terrorist continued to Tzur Natan and Tzur Yitzhak, where he also opened fire.

The head of the Samaria Regional Council, Yossi Dagan, said:
""This difficult incident illustrates once again that terrorism does not distinguish between residents of Judea and Samaria and residents of central Israel. Whoever shoots at Kochav Yair and Tzur Natan will also try to harm Salait, and whoever harms Salait seeks to harm all citizens of Israel. I ask to strengthen the family of the murdered man and pray for the full recovery of the injured.".
""I would like to commend Rabshatz Salait, who acted with determination, professionalism and coolness, returned fire at the terrorist and prevented a much greater disaster. I congratulate the security forces for their rapid action and the capture of one of the terrorists. This incident proves the enormous importance of the readiness squads, the Rabshatz, and the security elements in the localities. The State of Israel must continue to strengthen the security forces, the settlements, and the school communities throughout the country. This is the right answer to terrorism.""
The chairman of the Selait Moshav, Eliran Emanuel, said: "I would like to express my immense appreciation and gratitude to the community's rabbis, who, thanks to their rapid response and exceptional vigilance, thwarted a major attack that could have ended in a major disaster at the community gate. Special thanks go to the members of the emergency squad, who were deployed within seconds and demonstrated courage, determination, and composure. They constitute our first line of defense and prove time and time again their paramount importance to the safety of the residents.
""This event emphasizes more than ever the critical role of the GMR soldiers in maintaining the security of the communities. We call on decision-makers to reconsider cutting allocations in this area. The GMR soldiers are the backbone of ongoing security, and we must not give up the resources they need to continue to protect us.""
