Progressive in the party: Yair Netanyahu, son of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was elected a member of the Likud Central Committee.
According to a report on Channel 12, the move took place within the framework of internal agreements in the party's Ma'ale Yosef branch, led by MK Sasson Guetta, and without an election process.
Netanyahu Jr.'s new position does not include a salary, but is considered a sought-after and important position in the Likud's internal political arena.
A party source said: "After the attempt to appoint Yair Netanyahu to an office in the World Zionist Organization, this is another signal from the Prime Minister's son, who is facing life in the public world within the Likud.".
At the end of October, it was reported that Yair Netanyahu had been announced as a board member of the World Zionist Organization - a position with conditions almost identical to those of a government minister. However, following a public and political uproar, the appointment was thwarted.
