The largest transportation project in Israel of all time is underway: The Metro Subcommittee today (Monday) gave the Ministry of Transportation and the National Transportation Company "Green Light" to begin preliminary work on stations on one of the three core lines of the metro system - the "Ariel Sharon", "Terminus" and "Yoseftal" stations on the M3 line.
The plan defines the route of the M3 metro line - a ring line approximately 39 kilometers long, including 25 underground stations.
The M3 line connects Bat Yam and Herzliya, passes through key areas in the metropolitan area, and connects 8 municipalities. The line serves employment areas, urban renewal centers, and leading health centers, including Sheba, Beilinson, and Assuta Ramat HaHayal hospitals.
The plan determines an underground railway strip, station locations, a maintenance and operations center (depot), engineering facilities and organizational areas, and includes detailed instructions for carrying out the work, protecting the environment, reducing hazards, planning flexibility and regulating expropriations, including temporary expropriations, and demolishing buildings as necessary. The plan allows for the execution of work by virtue of a notice, permit or exemption from a permit, in accordance with the provisions of the Planning and Building Law.
Metro Line 103 joins Metro Line 101 (M1) and Metro Line 102 (M2) plans, which together complement a large-scale metropolitan metro network that will connect to the light rail lines and the existing public transportation system, significantly shorten travel times and provide a response to the expected transportation demands in the coming decades, while strengthening connectivity between all parts of the metropolis and the employment, education, health, culture and service centers of Tel Aviv-Yafo and the surrounding area.

Minister of Transportation Miri Regev: "Today we mark another historic step in realizing the Dan Bloc's metro vision. The metro plan constitutes a major milestone in advancing the largest and most complex public transportation project ever undertaken in Israel, which is designed to bring about a profound change in mobility, connectivity, and the quality of life of millions of residents.".
""This is a strategic national project that strengthens the economy, improves the quality of life and ensures reliable, fast and accessible public transportation for future generations. The Ministry of Transportation and Road Safety will continue to work, in cooperation with all relevant parties and local authorities, to advance the planning and implementation phases of the metro system, as part of the public transportation revolution and the realization of the vision of 'Connecting Israel.'"'
