The Hasidim were returning by train from "Operation Hanukkah" in Manhattan and were on their way to the Crown Heights neighborhood. The father and son, who got off at one of the stations, began chanting anti-Semitic slogans at them.

One of the guys, who feared that the incident had deteriorated, began to document it - and then the two pounced on him and physically attacked him.
The Hasidim got off at the nearest station and ran to the nearest police station to file a complaint against the anti-Semitic attackers. The New York Police Department has opened an investigation into the anti-Semitic attack.
Video footage circulated on social media clearly documented the serious incident. In the video, it can be seen that the attackers, a father and son, began harassing the Hasidim at Franklin Station after noticing their Jewish appearance. They boarded the same train, and the incident escalated into swearing, anti-Semitic remarks, explicit threats to their lives - and a physical assault.
One of the attackers said: "We went out to 'Operation Hanukkah' in Manhattan, a few hours of light and joy for the holiday of Hanukkah - and then we got on the 3 train from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Two black men, apparently a father and son, got on and began cursing and insulting Jews in a horrific way. I immediately took out my phone and started recording them, both to deter them and to use as material for the police.".
""When the son realized I was taking pictures, he physically attacked me, as you can see in the video my friend took. One stop before the Crown Heights neighborhood, we got off the train in panic, no one helped us. No one stood up and blocked the rioters. The son who attacked me pointed a gun at my head, and when I saw that it was dangerous, I quickly put the phone in my pocket. But the camera remained on.".
