Two years after his fall: Abia Luber, the widow of the hero of Israel, Sergeant Major (res.) Elisha Yehonatan Luber, became engaged tonight (Monday) to Yehoshua Gilvitz.

Her father and Jonathan had two sons - the youngest of whom, Amaziah, was born about three months after his father's fall - and hundreds participated in the moving joy of the covenant.

The groom-to-be, Yehoshua, is single. The engagement party is being held tonight. Her father, Luber, is the daughter of the Rosh Yeshiva of Tefahot, Rabbi Eyal Greiner.

Jonathan Luber, 24, a resident of Yitzhar, fought in Battalion 8104 in the Ram formation. He fell on the 13th of Tevet 5774, in battle in the southern Gaza Strip.

His father, Hagai Luber, has frequently published columns in media outlets and on social media in the past two years, following his son's fall.

Yael Shevach, the widow of Rabbi Raziel Shevach, wrote on her X account: "What do you call the guy who one day knocked on my door after my husband's murder, took my children and pretty much raised them for me ever since? An adopted son? A foster son? A brother? An angel?

""So today he is getting engaged, to her father, Luber, whose husband Jonathan fell in Gaza and she is left pregnant with a small baby. Whose grace has not forsaken the living and the dead.".
