The Ministry of Transportation and the Israel Highways Company announced today (Sunday) the opening to traffic of the new Nof HaGalil-Nazareth interchange on Highway 60.

Approximately 125 million shekels were invested in the project, with the aim of reducing traffic congestion and improving the level of safety for all road users.

The work began about two years ago and was completed on time.

The new interchange is designed to address the heavy traffic that has been recorded over many years in the 'Car Park Square' area, and it creates a new direct connection between Nazareth and Nof Galilee to Highway 60.

The interchange allows for quick entry and exit to the cities from Afula and Tel Aviv, and makes both cities more accessible in an efficient and convenient manner. The project includes regulated acceleration and deceleration lanes, improving existing intersections, and making the main arteries more accessible.

In addition, a new road, approximately two kilometers long, was paved, connecting the interchange to Nof HaGalil. The new road is two-lane and two-lane, and includes sidewalks, a lighting system and traffic control. In addition, drainage work, landscape development and new retaining walls were carried out along Highway 60, and a covered structure was erected above the new road to protect against rock erosion.

Minister of Transportation Miri Regev: "The new project on Highway 60 joins a series of initiatives we are leading in the north, designed to promote connectivity, ease traffic congestion and improve the quality of life for residents.

""The new interchange dramatically improves access to the Galilee landscape and Nazareth, and is part of the 'Connecting Israel' vision, which centers on strengthening national infrastructure throughout the country. We will continue to invest in advanced road infrastructure, expand central routes, and act decisively to provide residents with safer, more accessible, and faster transportation."'
