In the elections held this week, Kobi Gabriel was elected chairman of the branch, in a clear and significant victory - over the previous leadership and the other candidates who ran.
In the past year, Gabriel led a comprehensive national initiative that resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of active members in the city. The Elad branch has grown to 850 active members, an unprecedented number not previously recorded.
However, due to the seniority rules (Pazm) stipulated in the bylaws, those functionaries were not yet allowed to participate in the current vote. This means: Gabriel's overwhelming victory was achieved even though the broad base he built could not be reflected on the ballot.

After the ballot counting was completed, it became clear that Gabriel won a large majority over the outgoing chairman, Netzach Cohen, and his assistant, Shimon Malul.
Attorney Yechiel Vaknin, who ran with the support of City Council member Yitzhak Challah, received only 15 votes and did not pass the threshold.
Immediately after the victory, Gabriel said: “After years of inactivity, it is our duty to return the branch to full activity.
Gabriel added, "Faith in the path and the desire to bring about change led to this great victory.".
