A 13-year-old girl was burned tonight (Wednesday), about an hour after midnight, by boiling water during a 'dance mitzvah' in an event hall in the city of Elad.

The rescue forces called to the hall provided medical treatment to the girl, and she was evacuated in moderate condition for further treatment at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer.

Rescue medic David Amron said: "When I arrived at the scene, I found a 13-year-old girl suffering from burns to her body after being scalded by boiling water. Together with MDA medics and paramedics, we provided her with initial medical treatment, including dressings, and she was evacuated in moderate condition to receive medical treatment in the trauma room at Sheba in Tel Hashomer.".

Yair Porush, Avi Stern and Moti Levy, United Hatzalah paramedics, said: "We were informed at the scene that a boiling water kettle placed in the hall's kitchen fell on the girl and as a result she was burned in her upper body. We provided her with first aid and then she was evacuated to Sheba-Tel Hashomer Hospital, where at this stage her condition is described as moderate.".

United Hatzalah stated: "Recently, the United Hatzalah hotline has recorded an increase in the number of burn cases among children, teenagers and toddlers. It is recommended that safety and caution be taken to prevent similar incidents.".
