Four masked robbers attempted to rob a jewelry store in a new shopping center in the city of Ofakim this evening (Tuesday).
According to a report on Channel 7, the footage from the store shows that the robbers arrived armed with guns, smashed the main glass door - and broke inside.
Store cameras showed two employees who initially fled to a side room when they detected the attempted break-in.

But then one of the employees showed resourcefulness: he rushed to the cash register, where he pressed an emergency button that activated a dedicated smoke and gas system.
These filled the space and made it very difficult for the robbers, who had already begun breaking the jewelry displays, to see their surroundings - and were forced to quickly escape in the vehicle waiting for them outside - without managing to take anything.
According to 'The Marker' journalist, Simi Spolter, a resident of the city, this is the third robbery incident to occur in the same shopping center, in just two months.
""10 minutes after I left a new shopping center that recently opened in Ofakim with my wife and children," he tweeted, "while the center was open with people, a vehicle with gunmen entered and robbed a jewelry store. Third robbery of the center in two months!""
