Two four-year-old children studying at Haidar on Admor Street in Stephansted in Ramat Beit Shemesh were strangled today (Sunday) by cords that were wrapped around their necks - to the point of blocking their trachea.
The rescue forces called to the scene managed to prevent a disaster.
Paramedic Yitzhak Klein, from the rescue team, was the first to arrive at the scene and identified two children with handcuffs tied tightly around their necks. Using scissors, he immediately cut the handcuffs, allowing the children to breathe again.
""The cuffs were tightened in a way that restricted the children's breathing. After I cut them, they resumed breathing normally.".
Klein said that the handcuffs were found at the scene following work carried out in the building in recent days. According to him, the children said that they picked the handcuffs up from the floor and put them around their necks as a game.
""When I entered the classroom, I saw two children with handcuffs tightly closed around their necks," he said. "Using scissors that I took from the kindergarten teacher, I immediately cut the handcuffs and opened their airways.".
The circumstances that led to the tightening of the handcuffs around the children's necks are being investigated.
