Amit Segal, the senior political commentator for News 12, came out today (Friday) against the PR photographs of what he called "all kinds of philanthropists" giving gifts to survivors of captivity.
On his X account, Segal wrote: "Full disclosure - I can no longer bear the photos of all kinds of philanthropists posing next to the survivors of my captivity with the gifts we arranged for them and distributing the photo to the media.
""The format of secret giving is that it is done in secret. The format of charity is that its goal is to improve the situation of the recipient and not the public image of the giver. It is so repulsive, enough.".
Shlomo Kook, editor of the newspaper 'Bakhilah', responded: "So accurate.".
Guy Lerer, host of the program "The Pipe," who was behind many campaigns to help those in need, responded: "The criticism is understandable and tickles everyone. On the other hand, the echo of actions is critical to raising additional donations at an exponential level. Sometimes the equation is no embarrassment - no giving. And it's not that simple.".
