The Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Medical Center was the target of a cyberattack apparently carried out by an Iranian group.
The Ministry of Health clarified that the hospital's ongoing operations continued as usual and the medical teams continued to provide treatment to patients without interruption.
The hackers apparently exploited a vulnerability in the private laptop of a support person at a computer security company.
The Ministry of Health and the National Cyber Headquarters said: "During Yom Kippur, a serious attempted cyber attack was identified and thwarted at Shamir-Assaf Harofeh Hospital. The attack was thwarted in its initial stages, but the possibility of an information leak is being examined by the various parties.".
Assaf Harofeh is a government medical center and is therefore protected by the National Cyber Headquarters.
