Just in time: The first flock of cranes arrived today (Monday) at the Israel National Foundation's Agmon Hula, bringing with it great excitement.
The cranes come to us, mostly, from their nesting grounds in Russia, on their way to Africa. Some will stay in Agmon Hula all winter.
This is also the first migration of the young cranes, who are only a few months old, and they are accompanied by their parents to ensure that they make the long journey safely.
Inbar Shlomit Rubin, Field Manager at Agmon Hula, KKL-JNF: "The arrival of the first cranes at Agmon Hula is always exciting and fills the heart with beauty and hope. The magic of migration is exciting every time, and it is impossible to get used to these wonderful sights when the Agmon is filled with the sounds of the cranes. We all hope that, like the cranes, all the kidnapped ones will return to us soon, so that the joy will be complete.".
The Hula-KKL-JNF Lake is one of the most important habitats in Israel and the world and a critical stopping point for migratory birds.
The lagoon promises a variety of species a safe haven for rest and strengthening, a wealth of food, and the ability to accumulate energy to continue their long journey.
