Sergeant Inbar Avraham Kabba, 20 years old, from Lutem, a soldier in Battalion 890 of the Paratroopers Brigade, was killed this afternoon (Sunday) in an attack at the Jith Junction in Samaria.
Initially, he was seriously injured and taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, but then his condition worsened and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to the military investigation, Sergeant Keb was traveling with another soldier in a military jeep on Route 60 near Kedumim, and at a certain point the two suspected that a Palestinian truck driver traveling behind them was trying to harm them - and stopped them at the Jith intersection.
At this point, the Palestinian driver accelerated towards them and hit one of them. The other fighter got out and opened fire, which neutralized the terrorist - but also critically wounded his friend.
A bus driver passing by recognized the attack and also opened fire on the terrorist. According to the IDF, after he had already been neutralized.
Inbar was taken to Beilinson Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead. The incident is still being investigated by the IDF.
The terrorist is Mahmoud al-Akkad, 24, a resident of Nablus. After the runover, al-Akkad got out of the truck and approached the soldier, at which point he was shot and killed.
Inside the truck, the fighters found a knife - so it appears that this was a pre-planned attack.
IDF forces from the Samaria Brigade rushed to the area to conduct searches and inspected the entrances to Nablus and nearby villages.
The Palestinians reported that the IDF also blocked the entrance to Qalqilya and all the villages along Highway 55, which connects the city to Nablus.
Hamas welcomed the attack.
The number of IDF casualties in the Iron Swords War stands at 913.
