In honor of Rosh Hashanah 2015: The Population and Immigration Authority published today (Tuesday) the complete birth data for the year 2015.
The total number of births recorded from October 2024 to September 2025 was 171,029 babies.
The data shows that Jerusalem, the capital, continues to lead the table by a significant margin with almost 23,000 births. The data also shows that in 34 communities, only one birth was recorded during the year, and in 249 communities, only 5 births or fewer were recorded.
So who are the leading cities?
After Jerusalem with 22,941 births, Bnei Brak (7,670), Tel Aviv-Jaffa (6,877), Beit Shemesh (6,407) and Ashdod (3,978) appear.
The second five are opened by Petah Tikva with 3,299, Haifa (3,271), Netanya (3,222), Rishon LeZion (3,212), and in tenth place is the ultra-Orthodox Modiin Illit with 3,088 births.
Among the 34 communities where only one birth was recorded during the year - Kfar Ruth, Neve Atib, Beit Yanai, Samar - is Kibbutz Nir Oz, which suffered one of the hardest blows in the Hamas attack on October 7.
The high rankings of Bnei Brak (2nd place), Beit Shemesh (4th) and Modi'in Illit (10th) reflect the high birth rates in the Haredi sector. In the southern region, Be'er Sheva came in 11th place with 2,790 births, followed by Beitar Illit - in 12th place with 2,596 births.
