Israel announced this morning (Tuesday) for the first time that it accepts Trump's deal proposal.
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar clarified: "Israel is interested in reaching an end to the war in Gaza based on President Trump's proposal and in accordance with the principles established by the Security Cabinet.".
Foreign Minister Gideon Saar met in Zagreb with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic. In a private meeting followed by an extended discussion with teams from both sides, the two discussed relations between the countries and the situation in the Middle East, with an emphasis on the war with Hamas in Gaza.
Saar thanked the Prime Minister for Croatia's support for Israel after the October 7 attack, and made it clear that Israel is interested in ending the fighting in accordance with the principles presented by the cabinet and President Trump's initiative.
He spoke about the attack in Jerusalem and the rocket fire from Gaza, and made it clear that Israel was not the attacking side - but "was attacked on all fronts by its enemies.".
He added: "Israel's enemies, led by Iran, had and have a plan to destroy Israel through a simultaneous attack from several fronts. Israel is interested in peace, but will not be able to compromise on its security and the security of its citizens.".
According to a report in the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, Trump's new proposal has not yet been seriously discussed by the mediators.
They claim that it is seen as unworkable in its current form, especially because it is without real guarantees. Therefore, the mediators in Cairo and Doha are cautious with this proposal, and continue to pressure the US to enter into more serious negotiations, demanding that it put pressure on Israel to stop military activity in Gaza City.
According to President Trump's outline, all 48 hostages and dead will be released on the first day of the deal, along with the release of hundreds of terrorists - some of whom were sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of many Jews - as well as thousands of Palestinian detainees.
As part of the outline, Israel will halt Operation Gideon's Chariots II to capture Gaza City, and will immediately begin negotiations to end the war under the direct leadership of Trump. Fighting will not resume as long as talks between the sides continue.
