A senior Iranian official told the Qatari Al Jazeera channel that the assassination attempt on Iranian President Masoud Pazakhian "will not pass without Israel paying a price.".
According to the senior official, the assassination was also aimed at the heads of the three branches of government - the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judiciary - in order to paralyze the state.
The senior official added that the attempted assassination of Pazakhian is part of a broad Israeli plan designed to bring about the overthrow of the regime in Iran.
He said that an extensive investigation was opened into the attempted assassination carried out during Operation 'Am Kalavi', and as part of it, suspicions of involvement of collaborators who assisted in the execution were examined - with suspicion of involvement of the Mossad.
The investigation was opened in light of the high accuracy of the intelligence information available to the attackers, which raises suspicion of the existence of internal agents.
This morning, the Iranian Fars News Agency, affiliated with the Revolutionary Guards, reported that Pazhakian was slightly wounded in the leg during the Israeli attack.
According to the report, the attack was carried out on June 16th against a building in western Tehran, while a meeting of the Supreme National Security Council was taking place on one of its lower floors - discussing strategic decisions in response to the Israeli attack.
Six bombs were aimed at entry and exit points to the building. The report noted that the nature of the operation was very similar to the manner in which Hezbollah Secretary-General Nasrallah was assassinated.
Following the explosions, the electricity to the floor where the council meeting was held was cut off, but those present managed to exit through an emergency exit.
The attack caused minor injuries to the feet of several officials, including the president.
