After spending the weekend in detention under security conditions: Media personality Israel Frey was released today (Sunday) to house arrest under restrictive conditions. .

Fry, who was arrested last Wednesday, was being questioned on suspicion of incitement and support for terrorism, following a tweet he posted on the social network X in which he expressed joy over the fall of IDF soldiers and called them war criminals.

The police demanded that he be released to two weeks of house arrest. They also demanded that he post bail and be banned from leaving the country for 180 days.

The police spokeswoman said:

""Following an investigation conducted by the Tel Aviv District Police's fraud division, during which a media figure was arrested on suspicion of inciting terrorism following the publication of a post on the X network.

The suspect's detention was extended until today at the Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, and the investigation file was transferred to the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office for review.

At the direction of the prosecutor's office, the police today asked the court to transfer the suspect to complete house arrest with additional restrictive conditions.

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court recently decided to transfer the suspect to complete house arrest until July 18, 2025, with additional restrictive conditions.

Frey posted the tweet after the incident in Beit Hanoun, in which five soldiers from the Netzach Yehuda Battalion and the Northern Brigade were killed: Sergeant Meir Shimon Amar - 20 years old from Jerusalem, Sergeant Moshe Nissim Paresh - 20 years old from Jerusalem, Sergeant Noam Aharon from Sagedian - 20 years old from Jerusalem and Reserve Sergeant Benjamin Assulin - 28 years old from Haifa; and Sergeant Moshe Shmuel Nol - 21 years old from Beit Shemesh.
