Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video this evening (Monday) in which he addressed his testimony to the police - and the arrest of his close advisor Yonatan Urich and former military spokesman Eli Feldstein.
""This is a political hunt aimed at preventing the dismissal of the head of the Shin Bet," Netanyahu said. "They are holding Urich and Feldstein hostage. They are making their lives miserable for nothing.".
He added: "As soon as I was asked to testify, I said, 'I'm clearing my schedule, I want to testify. Now.' The police said, 'We need 4 hours.' After an hour, they ran out of questions.".
""They took an hour and a half break, came back for 10 minutes, I told them, 'Show me something' and they had nothing to show.".
He further emphasized: "I was amazed. I understood that the investigation was political, but I didn't understand to what extent.".
According to a report by Moti Castel on Channel 14, Netanyahu told the investigators: "Similar to more than 23 of my associates who were interrogated as part of the hunting campaign against me, with the only goal being my head and nothing coming out of it - this time too, nothing will come out of it for you. It's over. I do not intend to fold. Unlike then - today the public also understands what is happening here.".
Earlier today, it was decided to arrest Feldstein and Urich, and they will remain in custody tonight. The two are expected to be brought tomorrow for a hearing on extending their detention at the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court.
The suspicions against Feldstein and Urich are contact with a foreign agent, bribery, breach of trust and tax offenses. In addition to them, a journalist was also summoned for open testimony - which later turned into an interrogation with a warning. He is suspected of contact with a foreign agent.
