Fighters from the Yam, Shin Bet, IDF, and Border Guard killed five terrorists last night (Thursday) in the Nur a-Shams camp in Tulkarm, including Muhammad Jaber, known as "Abu Shuja'a.".

Abu Shuja'a was the commander of the Tulkarm Battalion and one of the most wanted men in the region, whom the security establishment had been trying to eliminate for a long time. He survived an assassination attempt in April.

""Abu Shaja" was involved in numerous attacks, including directing the shooting attack last June, during which Amnon Mukhtar was murdered.

The nighttime operation in Nur a-Shams was launched following intelligence information received by the Shin Bet that Abu Shuja'a and other terrorists were hiding in a mosque in the camp.

According to a report in 'Kan News', at 4:30 in the morning, the YAM fighters were rushed to the mosque, surrounded it, began a 'pressure cooker' procedure - and fired shoulder-fired missiles at the structure.

Abu Shuja'a was killed immediately along with another terrorist. In a nearby building, four more terrorists were identified who opened fire: three of them were eliminated, and the fourth: Muhammad Qassas, known as "Bayrah", one of the commanders of the Tulkarm battalion - surrendered himself with his hands raised to the security forces.

Abu Shuja'a's body was taken by our forces.

In addition to directing the attack in Qalqilya, Abu Shuja'a was involved in planning many attacks. About two months ago, the Palestinian Authority's security forces surrounded Thabet Hospital in Tulkarm, following information about the arrival of Abu Shuja'a, who had been injured in the hand by an explosive device he tried to throw at Palestinian security forces.

However, Abu Shuja'a eventually managed to escape arrest.

The New York Times published an article about Abu Shujaa about two months ago, as well as about the failed attempt to assassinate him by Israel. The interview with him was conducted in the Nur a-Shams camp, while he was under security and evading aerial detection. In the interview, Abu Shujaa claimed that he was not waging war against the Palestinian Authority, but said that he condemned those who stand with weapons against Israel and do nothing.

Amnon Mukhtar, 66, from Petah Tikva, was murdered in a shooting attack last June in Qalqilya. Terrorists who spotted him traveling in the city shot him dead and then set his vehicle on fire.
