Canada announced this evening (Thursday) a second round of sanctions against Israelis who were defined as "violent perpetrators, extremist settlers.".

The new sanctions list includes right-wing activists: Benzi Gopstein, Daniela Weiss, Elisha Yarde, Shalom Zicherman, Illi Federman, Meir Ettinger, and Inan Ben-Nir Amram Tangil.

In addition, sanctions were also imposed against the Amana organization, which has been working for settlement since 1979, Noar al-Gha'ot, Lehava, Moshe's Farm, and Zvi's Farm.

The Canadian Foreign Ministry said: "We remain deeply concerned by extremist settler violence in the West Bank and condemn such acts not only for the significant impact they have on the lives of Palestinians, but for the devastating impact they have on the prospect of lasting peace.".

Last month, Canada imposed sanctions on four settlers who were defined as "extremists." The Canadian Foreign Ministry's statement said the names of the four were David Hai Hasdai, Yinon Levy, Zvi Bar Yosef and Moshe Sharvit.

Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, responded: "A number of Zionist movements that have been engaged for many years in the sacred work of building our country continue to receive sanctions from many countries following political decisions - the decision today by the Canadian government to join a number of countries that have decided to harass settlers in Judea and Samaria is a clearly anti-Semitic decision.

""A sovereign state will not accept dictates from any country, and certainly will not impose sanctions on its citizens because of political foreign policy decisions!""

Religious Zionist Chairman and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich responded sharply: "The common denominator of all sanctions and all the countries that impose them is an attempt to award a huge reward for the terror and massacre committed by Hamas against Israeli citizens and to force us to establish a terrorist state in Judea and Samaria, a state that will endanger the existence of the State of Israel.".

He added: "After October 7, an overwhelming majority in the State of Israel understands the terrible danger inherent in the establishment of a Palestinian state. Together, we will stand firm against international hypocrisy and the existential interests of the State of Israel. We will continue to develop and strengthen the settlement and prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.".
