Three ultra-Orthodox hikers got into trouble today (Friday) while surfing in the Tamarim Stream near the Dead Sea. Firefighters from the Lehava unit carried out a rescue using a helicopter from the Israel Police Air Force, with the assistance of firefighters from the Binyamin Regional Station and the Megilot Rescue Unit. Rabbi Reshef Maor Dvori, the commander of the shift, said: "These were three hikers who entered the stream route in order to surf the waterfalls in the stream. In the middle of surfing, they got into trouble and called for help. "Firefighters from the Binyamin Regional Station, who specialize in high-altitude rescues, were rushed to the scene, along with the Megilot Rescue Unit. When we arrived at the scene, we conducted a situation assessment, at the end of which it was decided to launch the Lehba unit, which specializes, among other things, in extracting muskets." Lieutenant Commander Doron Elmashli, commander of the Lehba unit: "Upon receiving the report, a dedicated team specializing in complex rescues using helicopters was launched. Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the rescue team devised an action plan to rescue the three hikers. The rescue team landed nearby, and safely rescued the hikers out of the stream."
