Hundreds of families benefiting from the National Food Security Initiative in the northern region have participated in recent days in a series of content-rich workshops related to their economic lives, welfare, and health - as part of the Chabad Kollel and the Ministry of Social Affairs initiative.
The national initiative is designed to ensure nutritional security for the weakest populations in Israel, and it currently has a positive impact on the lives of 35,000 families in 239 cities and local authorities, among other things through monthly financial support, as well as assistance with the intelligent and thorough use of household finances, which ensures healthy, high-quality nutrition for all household members.
The families of the project in Hatzor HaGlilit participated in a workshop on personal empowerment and economics. After gathering and light refreshments, a workshop on personal empowerment and reinforcement for proper conduct was held. A moving presentation was then shown that strengthened the families "to see the goodness and abundance given to us from heaven and to remember to be grateful for everything.".
A special workshop was also held in Tiberias for the project's participants. Each participant was given a training booklet demonstrating economically calculated shopping, tailored to the host or guest.
The participants gave each other tips from their struggles and enriched the shared and experiential knowledge through the important tips. In the second part of the workshop, the participants learned the theory of table setting from the basic things available at home.
In Migdal HaEmek, a health workshop on detoxification was held for the project families, during which a presentation was shown on the importance of eating fruits and vegetables, their values, and how to incorporate them into meals throughout the day.
The lecturer asked the participants about their daily menu and explained to them the importance of the foods they bring into the home and how it affects the entire family. Finally, the lecturer prepared especially delicious health shakes for all the participants.
In Kiryat Yam, the project families learned about healthy and nutritious cooking, and easy and quick ways to prepare a healthy and nutritious meal. Children and parents prepared pasta, gnocchi sauces, and stir-fry together. At the end, the project families sat down for a shared meal with the dishes they prepared and salads.
In Karmiel, the project families also enjoyed a unique workshop: Parents and Children - A Positive Relationship as a Recipe for Proper Nutrition, through shared play. "We were happy to see how each child found the games that suited them and received significant attention from their father or mother," said the project coordinators.
In Yokneam, families participated in a health workshop on detoxification, during which a presentation was shown on the importance of eating fruits and vegetables, their values, and how to incorporate them into meals throughout the day.
And not just in the north. Dozens of single women living in the city of Elad and assisted by the project gathered for an enriching lecture by Ms. Dana and Ron, followed by a fun and liberating dance program.
