The heads of local authorities from across the country unanimously approved the election of Haim Bivas, Mayor of Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut, to the position of Chairman of the Local Government Center for another term.
Netanya Mayor Miriam Feierberg Icher was elected to the position of Chair of the General Assembly.
Haim Bibas, Chairman of the Local Government Center: "Over the past five years, we have proven that local government is the most stable and influential body on the lives of Israeli citizens. We have worked together for the residents, heads of authorities from all sectors that make up the mosaic of Israeli society, and we will continue to do so.".
""We face significant challenges in the upcoming term. I thank the heads of authorities for their expression of trust and am convinced that we will be able to work together in the next five years, to lead the local authorities and receive additional powers that will allow us to further improve service to residents.".
Miriam Feierberg-Eicher, Mayor of Netanya: "I am grateful for the trust that the mayors continue to place in me and for my election as chairman of the general assembly that brings together all the heads of local authorities.
""As is known, local government is the direct link between residents and the central authority, and in times of crisis, it is the one that manages to meet the challenges of Israeli society efficiently and quickly, as happened with the outbreak of the war. Ultimately, the one who comes into personal contact with the residents and in the face of reality, the one who always stands up, helps, and deals with all the challenges, is the local government. From here, we are required to continue to play the central role in leading the country and building unity among all parts of the people, and of course, continue to care for the residents and their well-being. With the hope of better days and the safe return of all the kidnapped people home!""
