Dr. Yehuda Sabiner, a resident of Bnei Brak who is part of the community of the Rosh Yeshiva Megur HaGerash Alter - who fought in Gaza with the Iron Swords - completed a medical officer course today (Tuesday) and was promoted to the rank of captain.
Sabiner specializes in pediatrics at the Schneider Medical Center in Petah Tikva, and serves as a combat doctor in the commando brigade, as part of which he fought in the Gaza Strip.
His friend, media personality Moshe Glasner, came to the ceremony to support him.
Glasner, himself a retired captain who has been serving in the reserves since the outbreak of the war, tweeted a picture of the two and conveyed an important message: "I arrived at the graduation ceremony of the medical officer course of my friend Dr. Yehuda Sabiner, from today Captain Dr. Sabiner.
""Precisely these days, as I close 158 consecutive days of reserve service from October 7, it is time to send a message to politicians who are making a cynical spin on the recruitment of Haredim: What you are doing is pure damage. Anyone who spreads illusions about forced recruitment of Haredim is a charlatan.".
He added: "Not only will you not forcibly conscript even a single yeshiva student, but your campaign will also cause non-studying ultra-Orthodox to avoid military service. There is a lot that can be done to recruit non-studying ultra-Orthodox, a cynical political spin is not one of them.".
