In recent weeks, a new morning kollel for senior citizens was inaugurated on King Solomon Street in Netanya by the local Chabad house.

The new kollel joins the national network of kollels of 'Kollel Chabad' - 'Tiferet Levi Yitzchak', in memory of the Kabbalist Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson zt"l, father of the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

The kollels of 'Tiferet Levi Yitzhak' are no longer the kollels known from the regular format. These kollels, in addition to being regularly scheduled, also serve as a social lifeline for the participants. Every day, the elders meet for joint study, some in a fellowship format and some in lessons.

With the opening of the kollel, dozens of students joined it.

Every morning, at ten o'clock, the kollel opens. Each hour, a different rabbi, one of the city's best rabbis, delivers a lecture on various subjects from the sources of the Torah: Gemara, Halacha, and Chassidus. Students enjoy breakfast, drinks, and snacks throughout the study period.

According to the Kollel management's plan, each month the participants will go on a unique bonding trip to different areas across the country.

The kollel opened two weeks ago with a fascinating lecture by Rabbi Michael Lasri, producer of Margaliot, on the great importance of setting times in Torah study. Renowned lecturers will frequently come to give a special lesson. In two weeks, that lecturer will be Rabbi Shneur Ashkenazi.

""The participants greatly enjoy the educational agenda and no less than the company, community, and warm, cohesive atmosphere," says the head of the kollel and Chabad emissary in the Nitza area of Netanya, Rabbi Meir Glitsenstein. "We didn't believe there would be such a response, it just shows us how great the demand is for Torah study in Netanya. We invite the general public to come and join.".

The Rebbe founded the network of kollels in memory of his father. Over the years, the Rebbe has made wonderful statements about these kollels.

""The statements and instructions," says Chabad Kollel Chairman Rabbi Shalom Duchman, "illustrate the esteem in which the Rebbe held the elders and the special treatment he accorded them. Thank God that the great momentum in the network of kollels, and now also in Netanya, is leading to an awakening in many cities that are seeking to establish branches in their cities.".
