They add that up to a year after a case of infection with one of the coronavirus strains, people may be at increased risk of developing a new heart-related problem - ranging from blood clots and irregular heartbeats to a heart attack.

Dr. Ziad Al-Ali of the University of Washington, who led the study, says: "We are going to emerge from this pandemic as a much sicker nation than we knew, because of heart problems related to the virus. The health problems we will suffer from will probably resonate for generations.".

He said, "Deaths from heart attacks have increased during the coronavirus pandemic and now we see them. Heart disease has long been the leading killer in the United States and around the world. In the United States, death rates related to heart disease moderated in 2019, just before the pandemic hit, and with each wave of the virus you really see how they have increased.".

""Worse still - young people are not supposed to have heart attacks, but in our new study, there was an almost 301% increase in heart attack deaths among 25- to 44-year-olds in the first two years of the pandemic.".

The study also found that high blood pressure is one of the signs found in patients, and one of the greatest risks for heart disease.

According to the expert, one of the symptoms of Corona is an irregular heartbeat.
