Screenwriter Manny Assayag tweeted a surprising tweet on his Twitter account last night, in which he called on satirist, actor, and radio broadcaster Shai Goldstein to turn a new page with him - after they had not spoken for several years.

""A few years ago," Assayag tweeted, "Shay Goldstein said some harsh things about me on the radio. It was when he took sides in a conflict I had with someone who today, without a doubt, says harsher things about me.

""Today, when Shai is under brutal attack, just because he came out publicly against the desecrators of the holy places and the haters of Judaism, I think it's time to forgive. Paid for the world. A new leaf.".

Goldstein responded to Assayg within minutes with a tweet: "Whoever extends a hand of peace to me, I will never return his hand empty.. Peace to you too.".

Shai Goldstein came under attack on social media after he published a post following the humiliation of a Chabad tefillin stand operator in central Tel Aviv, alongside a picture of himself placing tefillin with a Chabad emissary in Givatayim - in which he wrote: "You don't want them with a table of tefillin on your street, you yell at them and kick them out, but when they arrive as ZAKA or United Hatzalah first to take care of you after a terrorist attack, you don't kick them out, do you? And then when you need, God forbid, crutches, you go to Sarah, don't you? So what do you have? Tell me, aren't you tired of two-faced people?""
