Singer and songwriter Yishai Ribo won the ACUM Award this evening (Wednesday) for his song 'The Reason for the Reasons' - the most-played Israeli song of 2021, with 3,900 plays on radio stations.
Ribo took the stage, performed the song - and also gave a short and moving speech, saying:
""It's a great privilege to stand here. When 'The Reason for Reasons' was published, it was a time when everything was a little less clear, something in the comfort we were used to and the strength of our world was shaken. We were all searching for stability and true meaning, searching for hope and reason.

""In this rift, it was suddenly felt with certainty that there was someone 'turning' everything around, something that was bigger than us. The fact that the song 'The Reason for the Reasons' was the most played song at the time, a song whose lyrics are undoubtedly full of religious content, indicates that we as a people have a common denominator that is much stronger, much more powerful than our opinions and our worldviews. This indicates, first and foremost, that music unites our hearts.".

During the ACUM awards ceremony for 2021/22 in the field of popular music, a moving tribute was dedicated to the memory of senior musicians and artists who passed away this year, including Rabbi Uri Zohar zt"l.
