Baruch Dayan, the truth teller: In Bnei Brak, the late Rabbi Yosef Pinchas Halevi Berger, a member of the Shomrei Emunim Hasidim, passed away today (Tuesday), at the age of 85.

The deceased, z"l, was born to his father, Rabbi Yaakov Menachem Berger, z"l. He was known in all yeshivahs throughout the country, as he made a living selling cholent from the transit vehicle he owned to yeshiva students - mainly on Friday nights. Along with the cholent, he sold pastries, kugels and cans of drinks.

He traveled throughout the yeshivot world - from Yeshiva Mir in Jerusalem, to Ponevezh and Slobodka in Bnei Brak. He was also known in Rehovot, Kfar Chabad and Be'er Yaakov, along with other localities throughout the country.

His acquaintances tell of a kind man who would do favors with young men. He also always took young men with him who asked for a ride.

He was connected to his masters, the Rebbe of Shumar Emunim, the author of the 'Laws of Life', and the Rebbe of Hasidism today.

In the month of Nisan last year, he brought a Torah scroll to the reliquary of his wife, kindergarten teacher Mrs. Yehudit Leah, may God have mercy on her. He brought it to the Rebbe's house of study in Shomora Emunim-Kiryat Gat.

He left behind a blessed generation of righteous people: his sons Rabbi Nahum, Rabbi Shlomo, and Rabbi Moshe, daughters and sons-in-law, grandchildren, and descendants.

The funeral procession left tonight at 9:00 PM from his son's home on 19 Ibn Gabirol Street in Bnei Brak, via the Temeshwar Seminary on Rabbi Kotler Street, to the Shamgar Funeral Home in Jerusalem - and from there to Mount Hamunehot, where he will be buried.
