Four months after being smuggled out of burning Ukraine: The children of the 'Children's Home' in Zhytomyr, residing in a KKL-JNF vacation village in Nes Harim, hosted Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman today (Tuesday), who arrived accompanied by senior officials from his office.
Along with the children, Minister Lieberman was also welcomed by Chabad emissary and rabbi of Zhitomir and Western Ukraine, Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, who founded the children's home with his wife.
The visit was accompanied by Rabbi Mendy Blau from the management of 'Kollel Chabad', which provides a support system for refugee children and Chabad emissaries from Zhytomyr from the day they arrive in Israel, and by the emissary Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Peles, who oversees an extensive support system for Chabad emissaries in Ukraine. In addition, Levi Edrei also accompanied the visit.
Minister Lieberman, who met the children as they got off the plane at Ben Gurion Airport, after the miraculous rescue mission from Ukraine, and was a partner in providing assistance to the children's home, was happy to hear from them about their acclimatization in Israel.
He observed the diverse, educational, and value-based agenda provided by Chabad emissaries and was exposed up close to the inspiring investment and dedication.
During the visit, the Minister also toured the children's home synagogue and met with the adult boys. The Minister was particularly moved to see the boys in the synagogue, growing up in the spirit of Yisrael Saba, just like in the incubator in Zhytomyr.
Later, in a meeting between Lieberman and the children's home staff, the minister sought to praise the Chabad emissaries, who work with continued dedication for the welfare of refugees from Ukraine, on all fronts.
