Former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared on his Twitter account an article published on the Mida website explaining why the Netanyahu government ultimately did not apply Israeli sovereignty to Judea and Samaria.

The article claims, based on the book by the US ambassador to Israel during the Trump administration, that Lieberman and Bennett joined Gantz in putting a damper on the "Deal of the Century," in an attempt to prevent Netanyahu from achieving electoral success.

In response, political commentator Barak Ravid reiterated his claim that Friedman misled Netanyahu, and that Trump never gave approval for annexation.

""I remember sitting in a briefing at Blair House and Netanyahu said on Sunday that annexation was because Friedman sold him a deal. Then half an hour later Friedman knocked on the door of Blair House and said that there was actually a misunderstanding and that everything he promised would no longer happen. Any other version is a blatant lie and a rewriting of history," Ravid wrote.

Former Ambassador Friedman responded sarcastically to Barbid, writing on Twitter: "Barak, you don't know what you're talking about and here's the proof: You wrote a long book attributing words and actions to me without even having a single minute of conversation with me to verify the facts. You have my phone number - what were you afraid of? Great journalism!".
