Avner Netanyahu, the son of former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who usually does not speak out against political opponents like his brother Yair, launches a scathing attack against the prime minister, writing: "Naftali is a liar and a swindler whose place in the history of the Jewish people is guaranteed eternal damnation, alongside Abimelech and Archelaus at least (and I'm being subtle).".
""A megalomaniac and power-hungry man who from the beginning only dreamed of a plot on Mount Herzl and chicanery and honors, rode on a public of hundreds of thousands of people who would be represented by a dying party and committed a breach of trust on a scale unparalleled in modern democracy - in any country.".
Avner claimed that "when the Likud government did not evacuate Khan al-Ahmar, or failed to dismantle the dictatorship of essential democracy, this was due to a combination of the lack of support for these steps (these governments included Barak, Livni, and Lapid, but also Lieberman, Gideon, Bennett, and Kahlon - and we all know their position on the 'gatekeepers' today) along with our (admittedly) lack of awareness, and that of large parts of the Israeli public, of the seriousness of the problem.".
""As for not keeping promises, the Likud government has mostly not kept promises, if at all, to rival politicians - promises that were given in the framework of coalition negotiations anyway, which can be likened to a threat with a gun to the head.".
""Within the framework of necessity, I will always prefer breaking promises to politicians than breaking promises to voters, because nothing is more important in a democracy than the rule of the people and faithful representation of the voters. When such and such promises are not fulfilled, it is because they failed to materialize (it happens to everyone) - not because of chronic fraud and swindling like Bennett and Shaked's.".
Avner is optimistic about the future of the political right in Israel: "The national camp will be reestablished, with Likud at the center and with Shikli, the Haredim, Shas and the Mustards; I agree with you, there is no other solution, and we also have to do our own thinking (not the stage here); but it is important to point out the failures that have occurred, to ensure that in 2031 a new Bennett will not be established.".
