IDF spokesman's response: "The security forces' policy regarding the evacuated settlement of Homesh has not changed.".
Following the commander's decision to prohibit the Chief Rabbi from entering, Religious Zionism Chairman MK Bezalel Smotrich addressed Defense Minister Benny Gantz: "Preventing the Chief Rabbi from entering joins a series of recent aggravations and disruptions to the activities of the yeshiva there.".
""I would like you to order the general to allow the Chief Rabbi to enter the yeshiva immediately and to stop the repeated attempts to restrict the yeshiva's steps and to interfere with the Jewish presence that has existed in this place for fifteen consecutive years.".
In a tweet, he wrote: "Unparalleled audacity. I appealed to the Minister of Defense demanding that the Chief Rabbi be allowed to enter the Chumash yeshiva. No official other than the commander-in-chief would dare to refuse like that. A government of ten degrees to the right.".
The Homesh Yeshiva stated: "Preventing the arrival of the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi David Lau, to the yeshiva is another attempt to harm the yeshiva in order to prepare the ground for the destruction of the yeshiva, award a reward for terrorism, and complete the action of the murderers of Yehuda.".
