The third legal conference of the Israel Bar Association's districts, in collaboration with Walla! News, is being held today (Tuesday) at the Leonardo Hotel in Ashkelon, as a sign of solidarity with the residents of the south, after receiving special permission from the Home Front Command. This, despite a direct rocket hit a house in the city this morning.
In his remarks at the conference, the Minister of Public Security, Yitzhak Aharonovitch, referred to leaks from political-security cabinet meetings, and the criticism that the ministers received from the Prime Minister - and called for ministers to be tested with a polygraph.
""Are there leaks from within the cabinet? Go to the polygraph, and anyone who fails - has no place in the cabinet," said Aharonovitch. "Many things upset me that were leaked, but the fact that we are sitting, and the Minister of Justice comes in and says that the entire entrance program was broadcast on Channel 2 - that is very dangerous.
""I don't know who leaked it. All cabinet members need to be tested. If they are tested once with a truth-telling machine, this will stop.".
""Every cabinet member has an opinion, and that's legitimate, and if he's interviewed about his opinion, that's fine. But I have a problem with confidential things getting out.".
""The entire cabinet needs to pass a polygraph test, and whoever doesn't pass - throw them in the cabinet.".
When asked whether Prime Minister Netanyahu should be investigated on the matter, Aharonovitch said: "I was advised to maintain the right to remain silent.".
