MK Yaakov Litzman announced today (Sunday) that upon the dissolution of the current Knesset, he will retire from political life - and will not run for the next Knesset.
In an interview with Moshe Glasner and Avi Blum on Knesset Channel, he said: "We intend to overthrow the government and we will do everything to overthrow the new government.".
He then announced: "If there are new elections, I will not run. I will not run for the Knesset again. I think that at my age, I am approaching 74, I have served 23 years in the Knesset, I do not think that it should reach a situation where I have to be carried to the Knesset.".
MK Litzman added: "This has nothing to do with my files. I have no settlement. I decided a long time ago that I'm not going next term. I decided that I'm not running anymore. We need to give it to young forces. I'm retiring next term regardless of any plea agreements. I have no plea agreement.".
In an interview with 103FM, MK Gilad Kariv from Labor responded: "At the public level, it's pretty clear that this house will not lose from the fact that the man will not run for the next elections.".
