Following the difficult cases in which ZAKA volunteers treat elderly and lonely people, who die alone every day - while the bodies are found a long time later in a state of decomposition - Haim Weingarten, head of ZAKA's operations department, took it upon himself to check on the well-being of the lonely elderly woman who lived next door to his house.

Everyone adopts one vaccinated person: Have you already convinced a friend, neighbor, or relative?

Today (Wednesday), when Haim and his family were unable to contact the neighbor, Haim entered her home and found her lying on the floor, exhausted and weak.

According to her, she lay like that, exhausted, for two days.

Chaim Weingarten: "Yesterday, I accompanied ZAKA volunteers from the ZAKA center in Ashdod and Eilat who, unfortunately, handled two difficult and shocking cases, in which lonely bodies were found in a state of decomposition. Following the difficult cases, we at ZAKA launched a campaign for the days of Hanukkah with a small request from the public - to light candles with the lonely neighbors.

""Tonight, before I lit candles with my family, I went myself to check on the well-being of the neighbor who lives next door.

""She didn't answer the knocks on the door, even though we heard the cell phone ringing inside the house. I got worried and went in through the window, and found her lying exhausted on the floor. She said she had been lying on the cold floor for at least two days, without food and without being able to take her medication.".

""It pains me to think what could have happened if we hadn't come to check on her. I have no doubt that I was lucky enough to save her life, in a true Hanukkah miracle.".

Haim added: "I appeal to everyone who sees this message - go now and check on the well-being of the lonely neighbors. This is not just a slogan. This is a real life-saving!""
