Danny Dayan, a member of the New Hope party, did not rule out today (Wednesday), in an interview with 90FM radio, that his party will sit in a left-wing government under Yair Lapid - this contradicts the position of party chairman Gideon Sa'ar, who said: "I will not sit under Lapid.".
""We cannot let personal ambitions drag us into a fifth election," said the former Israeli consul in New York. "If the president tasks Lapid with forming a government, we will sit down with him for negotiations.".
Dayan added that he does not believe that Lapid will receive the mandate: "The president is imposing the formation of the government on whoever can form a government. I do not believe that Lapid will receive it.".
""The next prime minister will be Lapid or Netanyahu," Prime Minister Netanyahu tweeted, referring to Danny Dayan's words.
""If you vote for other parties - Lapid will be prime minister. If you stay home and don't come to vote for Likud - Lapid will be prime minister. Vote only for Likud!".
This is not the first time Dayan has confirmed that his party will join the left-wing parties.
Three weeks ago, in an interview with i24NEWS and Israel Hayom, Dayan said that he and his friends prefer a coalition with Yair Lapid and Merav Michaeli, rather than with Netanyahu. In response to the question of why, as a right-winger, he prefers to join left-wing parties rather than Netanyahu, Dayan said that "13 years is definitely enough."'
He also said at the time: "If Abtisam Marana Marana represents the Labor Party, the party will not be able to be part of our coalition.".
Afterwards, Dayan issued a clarification of his statement: "I meant to say that if Maraana's positions represent the Labor Party, we will not sit with them, not that if she is elected, we will not sit with them.".
Yesterday, Lapid told the Arab website 'Kol al Nas' that Bennett and Saar's boycotts are just "campaign talk.".
According to him, "These are sentences that are said to earn a point or two. The day after the elections, they sit and talk. These (Saar and Bennett) are people I know and know how to work with. It will be fine.".
