The military censorship confirmed the report. The Prime Minister's Office declined to comment but did not deny it.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman were in the city for talks. Mossad head Yossi Cohen accompanied Netanyahu on the trip.

The flight to the city of Neom took place on the plane of businessman Udi Angel.

It was reported in Walla that, according to data from flight tracking sites, the plane took off last night from Israel to Saudi Arabia and flew directly to Nimum on the Red Sea coast, and took off back to Israel after five hours.

According to a report by Barak Ravid in Walla, a senior official said that Netanyahu did not inform Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi about his flight.

At the time Netanyahu flew, a coronavirus cabinet meeting was scheduled to take place.

On Saturday night, the Prime Minister's Office announced that the meeting would be postponed until Monday because Ministers Ze'ev Elkin and Yisrael Shai had not finished preparing recommendations for the use of digital means to curb the disease. Israeli officials say this was a cover story for Netanyahu's trip.

This is not the first time that an Israeli plane has taken off to Arab countries in the Middle East, even to countries with which we do not have official relations.

One can only assume that those who travel to Arab countries frequently are Mossad head Yossi Cohen, National Security Council head Meir Ben-Shabbat, and perhaps the prime minister.

The meetings they hold are intended to strengthen security coordination between the countries and even discuss the normalization of relations.

US Secretary of State Pompeo met yesterday in Saudi Arabia with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

At the end of the meeting, Pompeo said that the meeting was important: "The United States and Saudi Arabia have come a long way since President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and King Abdulaziz Al Saud first laid the foundation for our relationship 75 years ago.".

Former Mossad head Danny Yatom commented on the mysterious trip: "Signs of diplomatic rapprochement between Israel and Saudi Arabia are increasing. If and when a peace agreement is signed between the countries, it is a strategic geopolitical event that will greatly advance Israeli interests in the region. It strengthens the hands of those in charge.".
