While Israel is discussing plans that will allow thousands of Breslov Hasidim to fly to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, Ukrainian authorities today (Tuesday) delayed passengers arriving on a flight from Tel Aviv for several hours at the Kiev airport.
According to the report in 'Kan News', 12 passengers were denied entry to Ukraine on the grounds that they "failed to prove the purpose of their visit.".
Some passengers were finally allowed entry.
""This is what is happening on the ground," noted Amichai Stein of Kan News. "The Ukrainians are making it clear to Israel that there will be no mass event in Uman.".
As reported by Haredim 10, in a meeting held by Ukrainian government ministers with the president, it was decided that the Ukrainian government will develop regulations that will ban foreign citizens from "red" countries from entering Ukraine for a period of 30 days. This ban will not apply to transit drivers and representatives of humanitarian missions.
The intention is to apply the regulations starting September 1 - 12th Elul.
MK Yulia Malinovsky of Yisrael Beiteinu, who spoke today with the mayor of Uman, Alexander Tsibery, said that he told her: "Tomorrow the Ukrainian government will meet and cancel flights from seventy countries, including Israel.".
