Jerusalem City Council member Yitzhak Pindros of the United Torah Judaism faction is attacking the Ariel municipal corporation, in light of a festival held in recent days in the Old City.
The festival, produced by the Ariel company, featured performances at several locations, and according to Pindaros, some of them hurt the feelings of residents in the neighborhood. According to Pindaros, a performance that took place last night at the Jaffa Gate, on the road leading to the Western Wall, particularly hurt the feelings of ultra-Orthodox residents.
In a letter he sent to Mayor Nir Barkat and members of the city council, Pindaros claims that CEO Ariel Zion Turgeman gave an explicit promise that there would be no crossbow performances that harmed the sanctity of the city and the feelings of the residents. "It turns out that the promise was made with clear knowledge that they did not intend to keep it. There must be a determined response from thousands of faithful Israelis who were forced to pass through the crossbow performance on their way to pray at the remains of our temple.".
In conversation with Haredim10 Pindaros said: "There was a verbal agreement that on the way to the Western Wall there would be no events that would prevent those coming to pray from the prohibitions of the Torah. I don't know if the mayor is aware. I sent an email to council members so that we could decide together on the steps.".
A response from Ariel has not yet been received.
