Eilat police officers couldn't believe their eyes: During a routine patrol, the officers noticed a vehicle traveling in the city's Shoham neighborhood, with a 12-year-old minor sitting behind the wheel, with his father next to him. The officers stopped the vehicle and detained the father for questioning, during which he was given a hearing and his license was revoked. The police said: "Giving permission to a person to drive a vehicle without a license, and especially to a minor, endangers the public, passersby and the occupants of the vehicle. It should not be taken lightly because a short trip or one in an isolated place is not dangerous. We will take action against these drivers by revoking their license and punishing them in accordance with the law." In February, traffic police officers in Jerusalem caught a 6-year-old girl driving a vehicle while she was sitting on the lap of her 67-year-old grandfather. An inspection conducted by the officers found that the grandfather's driver's license had not been valid for about three years. The grandfather was taken for questioning and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
