The newspaper 'Yediot Aharonot' has stopped publishing the column of journalist Yigal Sarna and he has been placed on paid leave from 'Yediot Aharonot'. This was announced inThe 'Seventh Eye' website.

Barna responded to 'Globes': "Right now I'm not writing, that's clearly between me and the newspaper. You could call the situation I'm in right now a vacation or a suspension.".

In response to the question of whether his current situation at the newspaper is related to the verdict in the high-profile libel lawsuit filed against him by Benjamin and Sara Netanyahu, Sarna replied: "I say it clearly - the columns have not been published since the verdict, and that is obvious.".

Journalist Jonathan Kitain from Globes He notes that from the newspaper's perspective, things appear more complicated: As far as is known, he writes, Yedioth Ahronoth has indeed been in doubt about Serna's status since the verdict was published. On the one hand, it is difficult for senior staff to ignore the harsh criticism that the judge leveled at Serna and his way of checking facts - and on the other hand, Serna is still considered by senior staff at the newspaper to be one of its best writers, and he is seen as a veteran and respected journalist, so no final decision has yet been made on the matter.

As reported in Haredim 10, the lawsuit filed by the Netanyahus ended in victory for the couple, after it was determined that Serena must compensate them with 100,000 shekels plus 15,000 shekels in legal costs.
