At the beginning of last month, a new member was added to the Netanyahu family: Kaya - a ten-year-old dog who found a warm home in the prime minister's residence.
Yesterday, Netanyahu posted a post on Facebook starring her, in which she appeared happy in his company - and he in hers.
Netanyahu wrote in the post: "How much light Kaya brought to our home. I also call on you, anyone who wants to adopt a dog or a bitch, to rescue the older dogs and bring them to your home." The post swept the netizens and reached about 40 thousand likes and more than 4,500 shares in less than a day.
The post managed to make even Netanyahu's opponents applaud.
Eldad Yaniv wrote in the comments: "I finally have a reason to like you," and he also received hundreds of likes.
Photographer Israel Bardugo, a well-known fan of the prime minister, wrote: "You are amazing! But why a foreign name for a dog? Are there no names in the Hebrew language? What's wrong with, say, the name Zehava?""
And a surfer named Esti Hanuno criticized: "This is a post that is suitable for the Swedish Prime Minister, a photogenic picture, it looks really spectacular. But when there are so many families in Israel who are crying out for help and rescue and when the Berlin protests are relentless, I would expect you, dear Prime Minister, to roll up your sleeves and instruct your ministers to do the right thing for the people and the country as you know how to do. People are having a hard time supporting families. My lord advises bringing dogs.""
