In the end, this was a joke: Matan Tzur, a member of the band Andrados who announced earlier this week that he was running in the Jewish Home party primaries, announced today (Thursday) that it was all a hoax carried out in collaboration with Motsash magazine.
As reported on Haredim 10, Tzur posted a well-reasoned post earlier this week, in which he wrote: "This time, there is no punchline at the end. I have decided to run in the Jewish Home primaries.
""Why? There are many reasons, of course. The main reason is that I feel that there is no candidate who clearly represents the young public, and is going to fight for students and young families alike.".
The candidacy of Tzur, who is well known for his membership in the popular entertainment group 'Andrados', became the talk of the town on the religious-nationalist street, and many wondered whether this was a serious candidacy.
For his part, Tzur set up headquarters, distributed a slogan, received hundreds of comments, and repeatedly declared that this was a 'walk to the end.'.
Now, as mentioned, Tzur admitted that this was a type of 'social experiment' conducted in collaboration with the Jewish National Council, who sought to examine how easily a young candidate with no proven public work could be run.
On the Motzash website – NRG, Tzur said: "Honestly, it was a special experience, but also a difficult one. I didn't care about the Nazis, but I hope I didn't hurt good people who immediately mobilized to support and help. I apologize if anyone was hurt, really. You can blame the Motzash system, it seems fair and appropriate to me.".
