Mossad head Roman Gofman began today (Wednesday) shaping the organization's top brass - and appointed the former Shin Bet spokeswoman as the Mossad's external communications advisor.
The appointment, reported by Yossi Yehoshua on i24, replaces the previous consultant - who was outsourced and whose name is not allowed to be published. Her employment was terminated immediately upon Goffman's appointment, after he decided not to extend her contract.
As Avishai Greenzig published last night, the outgoing consultant was a significant figure in mediating the Mossad's positions, but there was criticism surrounding her external employment because the identities of her other clients and their business interests remained confidential from the public.
In response to the publication, the outgoing advisor said: "I announced in advance that I would be leaving.".
The transfer of the former Shin Bet spokeswoman to the ranks of the Mossad brings to the secret organization a professional with rich experience in managing complex information systems in the intelligence community.
Her deep familiarity with the limitations of secrecy, security sensitivity, and censorship is expected to assist the incoming head of the institution in managing the organization's image and media challenges.
