As part of an operational activity by the Prisons Directorate and in cooperation with the Northern District Detective Division of the Intelligence Division, smuggling of prohibited items to a prisoner was thwarted during a visit by an attorney to the Tzalmon Prison.
The activity was carried out following intelligence information received by the IPS Intelligence Division, according to which a lawyer was expected to hand over prohibited items to the detainee during a counseling session.
After receiving the required permits, the forces prepared for focused activity.
During the operation, dozens of different types of bullets, a watch, and a pair of scissors were seized, which were suspected of being intended for transfer to an arrestee.
During her interrogation, it emerged that she was the detainee's partner and had linked herself to the crime - a continuing investigation by the Northern Prison Service Investigations Unit.
