Six teams of firefighters from the Binyamin region, with assistance from the Central District, worked on Saturday night on a fire that broke out in a yeshiva on Hazon Ish Street in Modiin Illit.
The teams that arrived at the scene identified a portable building used for student housing, which was on fire.
The crews began operations to contain the fire before it spread to other buildings, and worked to extinguish the fire and search for trapped people.
Chef Kobi Levy, shift commander: "Upon arriving at the scene, we acted quickly to contain the spread of the fire, since it was a complex built of lightweight construction. At the same time, we worked to search for anyone trapped inside the buildings.
""According to initial investigation, the complex is used for student housing, and several living rooms caught fire. Firefighters ruled out any trapped people at the scene, and the complex suffered heavy damage.""
