Another French soldier has been killed after being wounded by Hezbollah fire last week. The soldier, Staff Sergeant Anissa Girardin, was wounded when terrorists opened fire on a UNIFIL force clearing munitions in a village in southern Lebanon, in an incident that killed another soldier. This morning, he died of his wounds.
French President Emmanuel Macron said: "The French nation sends its most sincere thoughts and deepest condolences to his family, his relatives, as well as to the families of the other wounded. It bows to the excellent commitment of our troops within UNIFIL, who are acting with courage and determination in the service of France and peace in Lebanon.".
