On 08/03/26 in the evening, a report was received at the Israel Police's 100 hotline about a shooting that took place at the mayor of Araba and his deputy after they were sitting in a bakery in the city. As a result of the shooting, the mayor was seriously injured and his deputy was moderately injured.
Upon receipt of the report, an investigation was opened to clarify the circumstances of the case, which was assigned to the Central Unit (YAMR) of the Northern District. Shortly before, when the investigation became public, two suspects, residents of Araba, aged 35 and 45, who were suspected of being involved in the attempted murder, were arrested for questioning.
In accordance with the findings of the investigation, the investigating unit is expected to request tomorrow to extend the suspects' detention at the Nazareth Magistrate's Court, and the investigation into the case is continuing.
